Gary has played for Desford since 1996. As Co Principal Cornet, he has enjoyed several memorable performances during his time with the band including the recent 5th place at the British Open (2014).

His musical training has taken place predominantly during his career as a Military Musician. Having had some great tutors over the years including Kevin Bolton, Alan Lawton MBE and the late Ian Mackintosh.

Having left school and enlisted into the British Army and more recently as a member of the Royal Air Force Central Band, he has travelled the globe extensively with the RAF, his most enjoyable trips were to Japan, Hong Kong and a six-week East to West coast concert tour of the USA.

Gary now lives in Newark and apart from his commitments with the RAF, he enjoys teaching and conducting brass bands at all levels.
